Requisite lantern scene picture~

ACTUALLY, this was quick and kind of a spur-of-the-moment painting, because, you know, everyone and their grandma has drawn/painted/recreated this, and there are really gorgeous pictures out there that I know I wouldn't be able to match. Which is totally awesome, cuz it's a magnificent scene, so beautiful, and the emotional buildup is fantastic, and it's probably my favorite scene visually in the history of everything ever.

ANYWAY, if I was gonna do a lantern scene picture, I wanted it to be different from all the hundreds of others that I've seen, so I got to wondering, how would Rapunzel paint it? Because you know those castle walls aren't going to be clean for long.

Have I ever mentioned that I love the fact that she paints? How inherent it is to her personality? I love the way that Glen Keane put it (at least I think it was him) saying that she was full of the sun's magic and energy, so she would need to express it somehow. And it's great how it pops up later, during the festival, when she's drawing on the ground with the kids, that's just so precious. I creeped on Claire Keane's drawings while I did this, since she did the walls of the Tower. The simple style was difficult to mimic cuz it's not something I'm used to doing.

Tangled/Rapunzel/Flynn/Pascal etc belong to Disney, I made this.
